We Are A Deadbeat Nation!

The President said today "we are not a deadbeat nation."  He's wrong.  The US government has made promises to our future citizens that are impossible to keep.  Obama knows it and we know it.  Making breast-beating utterances like the one Obama made today is, at best, disengenous.

The Obama "Ostrich" policy continues.

"This Aint Nothing" goes the great country and western song of a few years back.  I was thinking about that song as the deadline passed for Congress to reach a budget deal.  What happens 15 years from now?  No vote can save us then.  Medicare will be out of money and social security will be bleeding as well.  Then what?  That's the real budget crisis. In a country choking on unaffordable entitlements, the Obama Adminstration has crammed down one more unfunded entitlement on a wary public.  This simply makes the clock tick faster toward America's impending insolvency. The US is on track to go broke.  Whatever happens now is irrelevant unless it tackles the entitlements.  Putting this off, even for a year or two, makes it almost impossible to fix and guarantees the country's eventual insolvency. Greek Political Solution Unravels

Today's election in Greece seems to have created a majority for those opposing the austerity measures agreed to by Greek politicians in exchange for the bailout by the European Union.  Now what? The real tragedy here is that if Greece abandons the austerity program, which frankly they should do, then they will be booted out of the Eurozone and forced back onto their own currency.  Some economists think this is great.  Now, Paul Krugman would say, Greece can simply deflate the heck out of their currency and prosperity will be just around the corner.  That, of course, is ridiculous. The best solution would have been for Greece to do a structured bankruptcy while remaining in the Eurozone.  The Eurozone is a good thing not a bad thing.  The US has benefitted greatly from being a single currency union and the same beneficial effects have flowed to Europe.  Remaining in the Eurozone should be a completely separate issue from the question of dealing with Gre...
